Meaningless?

MEANINGLESS?

Words and emotions, it’s all the same

These tools used as part of their game

Flowing compliments you want to believe

In the cold light of day foolishly naïve

Building you up but, for their own ends

No crystal ball to see what each one intends

Same old flannel to put you off guard

Toying with your feelings total disregard

Hindsight takes a holiday oblivious to the fact

Unable to see the warning signs, slow to react

Taking what they can, giving little in return

You’d think by now, surely you’d learn

Honesty and trust that once was a given

Now replaced by deceit, lie and derision

There to be used when occasions arise

To boost their ego or self-importance, which ever applies!

Forget the saying “sticks & stones” for words can hurt

Vicious tongues that rub your face in the dirt

Forget the where’s, why’s and endless lies

And in our judgment be more careful and wise

Each day a new chapter is waiting to be written

A new love with which to be totally smitten

Love is not something that can be defined by time or rules

For in the realm of love we are all helpless fools

Be yourself and the rest will take care of itself

Avoid worry and stress and things that will damage your health

Easy though in theory but so hard to follow through

Always remember life is what you make it, so be careful what you do
