poetry Home

Home

In an eye within a face

In a world with no time or space

In a land, that has no place

Majestic swan that has lost its grace

By a river running nowhere

Winding path leading where

Beside a house without a care

Passing people stop and stare

Signs direct but where do they lead

Already there before you proceed

There in soul lost in mind

Perfect vision why so blind

Destination reached empty space

Footsteps vanish unable to trace

No trail to follow no map to guide

Feeling hungry cold inside

Place to rest sleep the night

Warm inside tucked up tight

Cold outside the hunted's plight

Soundly sleep until first light

Daily toil life goes on

Times are hard years are long

The weak struggle to carry on

The strong seemingly go on and on

Invisible to those with whom we pass the time

Madness around us no reason no rhyme

A dream to begin nightmare to end

Trying to smile we cannot pretend

Wherever we go, we will not always fit

While those in ivory towers sit

Those who judge or treat us bad

In times when we are happy or sad

We fail to realise we are the same

No one different equal blame

We all affect life in some small way

Everyone of us a part to play

A tale you may think of somewhere new

That would explain if only it were true

A place more familiar than we would like to believe

However hard we try to deceive

The place we call our castle our place of rest

Where ever we are we like it the best

No matter how far where ever we roam

This is the place we call home
