POETRY STRESS

Stress

Stress affects us in so many ways

What seems like nothing can last for days

The words “If only” and “What if “spring to mind

But let’s dig deeper and see what we can find

Everyone is affected at one time or another

No discrimination between one and other

The mind a wonderful thing but it can also be a curse

Finding solutions but it can also make things worse

Bringing up the past or things people have said

A jumbled merry go round inside our head

Figuring out, reasoning, what the hell are we going to do?

What’s the solution quite simply at times we haven’t a clue

Needless worry what may or may not come to be

Reality is in the end what will be will be

Our judgment may at times be shaky not always sound

But if we learn from our mistakes, we can turn it around

At work behind a professional face, we are able to hide

Cleverly concealing the worry and stress inside

Projecting happiness, keeping busy helps us cope

Trying to keep our balance on the slippery slope

A fine line between failure and success

Mirrored the same between happiness and stress

Life’s a balancing act with little support

And measured only by our each and every thought

Keeping sane is hard to do in the world we know

But with love and support we can all learn to grow

Let’s be honest there isn’t a cure that’s plain to see

Stress will always be a part of you and me

Worry lines wrinkles our battle scars

Life is short and we are a long time in the stars

Talking is good and helps to lessen the load

On our own the stress will continue to erode

Family, friends those we hold dear

Play an important role in the course we steer

We all need to realize we are not crazy mad or insane

And things won’t get better the more we complain

The hardest thing sometimes is finding someone you can trust

They promise to be there, and then you won’t see them for dust

But don’t despair good people exist and will be there until the end

That is when you know they are a true partner or friend
