poetry lasagne

Lasagne

A combination of many things

Oh, the joy lasagne brings

Its magical blend of mince and herbs

Onion, carrot, & tomatoes, leaves me lost for words

Why you might say, what’s the fuss?

But let me explain, let’s discuss

Yes on their own they lack panache, or style

But together, the best meal ever by a country mile

The magic comes with the garlic, and wine

Tomato puree, stock, pepper, a taste so fine

Beautifully created, with pasta of course

And not forgetting the most important part, the béchamel sauce

A rich blend of butter, flour, milk, double cream, and cheese

A definite recipe that’s guaranteed to please

Peppercorns, spinach, broccoli, bay leaf to taste

Every mouthful sublimely indulgent nothing goes to waste

So simple in its inception yet so unique

Perfectly created would you dare to tweak

Maybe garlic bread, or parmesan cheese

A freshly cut salad, would surely please

Romantic evening or, something quick for tea

A perfect choice whatever your mood may be

Italian excellence created with love and passion as well

Completely mesmerised under its spell

To finish off a meal so gastronomically fine

There is nothing better than a glass of wine

Maybe soft lighting and music to set the mood

A wonderful way to complement such wonderful food
